The property market is experiencing a boom all across the UK, especially as people are rushing to take advantage of the stamp duty holiday on properties up to £500,000.
With some properties being snapped up sometimes in a matter of hours of being put on the market, we wanted to have a look at some tips for making sure your home stands out and sells quickly too.
Built-in Storage
Fitted furniture company Hammonds conducted a recent survey that quizzed home buyers what are the ideal features they want in a new home, and which they do not want.
Built-in storage is one feature that can increase the value of your home, specifically built-in wardrobes.
Outdoor Area
We are all much more appreciative of having access too outdoor spaces with the lockdowns on the year. 45 per cent of home buyers have said they would pay extra for more outdoor space, and even a small garden can be a draw for buyers.
Office Space
Our homes have become our offices as well this year, and working from home is likely to continue being a prominent feature in our lives even after the pandemic has passed. More and more buyers are looking for functional spaces in the home that can be used as a workspace.
Garage
37 per cent of homebuyers say that a garage is a desirable feature.
What to Avoid
People are put off a property by things such as damp and signs of pests, which can lower your home’s value by around 20 per cent, so get any such issues fixed before placing it on the market. An untidy garden is also a turn off for buyers, as is old and worn decor.
